I don't like a empty theatre. Crowded theatres aren't a problem as long as I get there early, and there aren't obnoxious people close enough to distract me.

a decent crowd at theatres are usually best for comedies and horror flicks. but any ordinary movie going experience can be ruined by two idiots talking through the whole movie behind you or the other idiot with the really loud and really annoying showtune on his cell phone.

I usually don't care...I'm just happy to be out of the house Seriously, I can enjoy a movie when I am totally alone or in a crowded theatre. I agree that response from a crowd during a comedy or horror flick can enhance the experience.

Depends totally on the movie, really. Some are better in a packed theatre, some are better in an empty one. Of course, a good movie will be good in either of them.

Just look at it this way... a totally empty theatre... you can do anything you want. It's your own high-end home theatre experience without it being at home.

Its not very often that you go to see a movie and have the whole place to yourself. Normally, when you shell out bucks to see a picture, there are many other hidden fringes that you are also paying for. Such as listening to all the munching going on in the background by other movie goers. Or the teen that likes to intentionally draw attention to themself by holding the empty popcorn bucket several feet from the floor before dropping it. Don't forget those restless children that we pay double for. The ones at the show and the ones at home that we are paying the baby sitter to take care of. Its never fun to pay to have your toes stepped on either by others shuffling in and out. If only they would have given you a remote to pause the picture with for a little restroom or snack break, you would have been in movie heaven.
